The Democrats will win the Senate in Republican states

In the midterm elections of November 3, Democratic candidates achieved victories in states such as Texas, Kansas, Iowa, Ohio, and the two Carolinas—North and South. The significance of these results lies in the fact that some of these states had voted Republican for several decades, and Trump had also won in a number of them during the 2024 presidential election. Media outlets view this shift as an indicator of the impact of dissatisfaction with the government's policies on voter behavior.

Reports indicate that economic issues, the rise in gasoline and diesel prices following the Iran war, immigration policies, and financial pressures on American families have been key factors in the decline of support for Republicans. Trump's backing of his party's candidates also failed to prevent their defeats in several races. Meanwhile, a number of Republican supporters in Ohio have criticized the party's performance and the government's priorities.

Gaining the Senate majority will enable Democrats to play a more prominent role in countering the White House's agenda. They can complicate the approval process for proposed government legislation and exert decisive influence on the confirmation of ministers, senior officials, and federal judges, including potential Supreme Court nominees. Should they also win in the House of Representatives, Democrats will be able to intensify oversight of the government's performance and apply greater political pressure on Trump.

Republicans had secured the Senate majority with 53 seats in the 2024 elections; however, these new results have altered that situation. Although the Democratic majority in the Senate is now confirmed, vote counting continues in some House races, and its final composition remains undetermined. If Democrats complete their victories in both chambers, Trump will face increased congressional oversight and political constraints during the final two years of his presidency.

The Democratic Party of America, following the growing dissatisfaction of voters with Donald Trump's policies and performance, secured 51 Senate seats by winning in several states under Republican control, thereby claiming the majority in that chamber. At the same time, American media have reported on the likelihood of this party's victory in the House of Representatives as well.
